EVENT OUT OF TIME
Romei pilgrims walking with Saint Martin
Convent complex of San Martino Maggiore
Sunday 13 October walking with San Martino in the Bolognese Hills starting from the Basilica of San Martino Maggiore (via Oberdan, 25) at 9.00 am!
The Pilgrimage of San Martino will go from the Basilica of San Martino Maggiore to the Church of San Martino in Casalecchio di Reno through the Bolognese hills with a visit to the sanctuary of the Madonna di S. Luca.
In the spirit of their motto "Zelo zelatus sum pro Domino Deo exercituum" the Carmelite Friars of the Basilica of San Martino Maggiore are pleased to invite walkers on Saturday 13/10/2024 (9.00/19.00) to a pilgrimage on the Bolognese Hills between the two Churches of San Martino.
In 2016, the celebration of the Martinian Year to commemorate the 1700th anniversary of the birth of Saint Martin was an important European event in Bologna and Casalecchio di Reno for their Churches dedicated to this saint, and which have started a spiritual journey since that date shared with Nature!
The testimony of these two Churches dating back to the Middle Ages (but even before!), which faced times of pandemic and war with a lot of faith and hope, represents a precious viaticum in our daily journey, so that our Paths of San Martino are an invitation for everyone to continue together in peace and trust every day in life!
Led by Alessandro Conte (GAE Guide) the Romei of San Martino, leaving at 9.00 after a coffee in front of the Basilica of Bologna and a short visit, will cross the center of Bologna, to climb along the historic Via Crucis which leads to the Colle dell'Osservanza , dedicated to Saint Paul. A break in front of the magnificent panorama of our city and then going down to Villa Spada and going up along the "longest portico in the world" to the Basilica of San Luca and then reaching the Parco della Chiusa and thus arriving in Casalecchio di Reno with its Church of San Martino.
Participation is limited to 25 participants, with registration required by 6pm on Friday 11 October. To book:
